Out of love, I gave

Time that faded away,

Gifts that meant nothing,

Consideration taken for granted.

Misled on, I stayed,

Hoped to be seen while lured on,

Hoped to be approved while despised,

Hoped to be loved while drained.

Out of love, I talked,

Named the disrespect while being gaslit,

Named the lack of attention while being told to overreact,

Named the void while being consumed.

All through the shutdowns and the walls,

I cried my despair out,

I shouted my pains,

I silenced my disbelief in order to break chains.

Out of love, I waited

To see the changes that never came,

To see the promises never fulfilled,

To hear apologies and words of comfort never spoken.

And now, I've come to realize

After hours, days, months of trying,

Broken, drained, and weary,

I'm taking back all that I invested,

I'm taking back what remains of myself,

I'm pouring me in the Lord of my youth.

Out of love, I need distance.

No, I'm not coming back.

There is no point in me staying

Where I don't feel accepted...

Not just out of tiredness,

Not out of numbness,

But out of having clarity

And knowing my origins,

I am growing back to where I was

Because God created me to belong to Him;

Out of love, I stand.
